The development of AI Fuel Mode was a collaborative effort between Econet InfraCo and Cassava Compute. Using NVIDIA-powered AI computing infrastructure located in Cape Town, South Africa, they analyzed generator deployment patterns. This analysis led to the creation of a fuel management matrix that optimizes generator use and reduces diesel costs. Notably, this solution is the first of its kind globally for a tower operator, setting a new standard in the industry.
Godfrey Gomwe, the Chairman of Econet InfraCo, shared insights into the impact of AI Fuel Mode. He stated that the system analyzes generator deployment patterns to optimize fuel use, resulting in a 30 percent decrease in fuel expenses. Gomwe added that this demonstrates the real-world application of AI in improving efficiency and managing key costs.
The success of AI Fuel Mode has encouraged Cassava AI to consider making the platform available to other operators across various industries. Potential applications include mining and manufacturing, where fuel management is also critical. Furthermore, Cassava AI is working with NVIDIA on a complementary system, AI Energy Mode, which will help Econet Wireless optimize electricity consumption across its network.
