Safaricom and Pesapal Launch New M-PESA Payment Features for Everyday Transactions

Safaricom and Pesapal have joined forces to bring you a new generation of payment experiences that make everyday transactions feel smoother and more natural than ever before. Announced on the first of October twenty twenty six in Nairobi, this collaboration combines Safaricom's deep expertise with M-PESA payments and Pesapal's trusted merchant infrastructure to create practical solutions for businesses and customers across Kenya.

You might already know Scan-to-Pay as the simple way to scan a QR code linked directly to a merchant's M-PESA Till Number. Now the partnership with Pesapal takes this further with Dynamic Scan-to-Pay where you scan a code displayed right on the Pesapal POS device and the merchant details plus payment amount fill in automatically so you can verify and complete everything in one smooth motion using M-PESA payments.

If you have an NFC-enabled smartphone you can now simply tap your device on a Pesapal POS terminal and verify the transaction details before completing the payment, which means no more fumbling with cash or cards at the checkout counter. Agosta Liko, the founder of Pesapal, describes this as a significant advance in Kenya's checkout experience in recent years and notes that thousands of businesses already trust their platform for reliable transactions through M-PESA payments.

Safaricom is also rolling out AI Pay on My OneApp, which already has more than seven million downloads. This feature lets you scan any receipt whether it is printed or handwritten and the system automatically identifies the Till or PayBill details along with the payment amount so you do not have to type anything in manually. James Maitai, the Group Chief Technology Officer at Safaricom, explains that the goal is to reimagine the payment experience itself rather than just enabling payments as the way Kenyans shop continues to evolve with M-PESA payments.

Scan-to-Pay is already live at over sixty thousand merchant outlets and the target is to reach five hundred thousand within the next year alongside the growing network of Pesapal POS devices, which means you will see these convenient payment options appearing in more places where you shop every day. The rollout continues to accelerate as both companies work to meet the changing needs of customers and businesses who want transactions that are fast and simple and reliable through M-PESA payments.
