Prudential Leads Africa in Global Insurance Excellence

Prudential Africa has claimed the top spot as the leading insurer in Africa within the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Global Top 100, a recognition that reflects the growing strength of its advisers across Nigeria and Ghana. These operations have consistently ranked first in their respective countries while also being featured among the world’s top 100 insurance companies, showcasing the quality of financial guidance offered to communities across the continent.

MDRT serves as the global standard for professional excellence in life insurance and financial services, and Prudential’s upward trajectory in this arena is clear. In the first half of 2026, 275 Prudential advisers in Africa qualified for MDRT, a significant leap from the 662 qualifiers for all of 2025. This growth stems from a three-year global partnership with MDRT launched in 2025, which grants advisers access to learning resources, leadership development, and best practice sharing.

Emmanuel Mokobi Aryee, CEO of Prudential Africa, highlights the increasing awareness of financial planning among individuals and families. “There is a growing opportunity for our advisers to make a meaningful difference in their communities,” he says. Africa is now Prudential’s fastest-growing MDRT community globally, and the company is expanding its adviser force to meet demand.

Behind every MDRT qualifier lies a structured path combining product training, needs-based coaching, mentorship, and digital tools. These elements allow advisers to focus on building trust and understanding client goals, which technology alone cannot replicate. Achumile Majija, Chief Commercial Officer, emphasizes the importance of development and support structures.

Prudential plc, the parent company, operates the second-largest MDRT agency force globally and reported an 8% increase in new business profit to US$1.384 billion in the first half of 2026. Agency contributions accounted for 53% of this figure, with new business profit per agent rising 9% year-on-year. In Africa, annual premium equivalent sales grew double-digit during the same period, with the company holding top three positions in key markets.

Prudential Africa now employs 12,000 advisers across Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Ghana, and Nigeria, a 71% increase over five years, serving 2.6 million customers. Kenya aims to grow its adviser base from 1,000 to 5,000 by 2031, addressing the influx of young professionals entering the labor market.

Despite low life insurance penetration in Africa (0.31% outside South Africa), Prudential is investing in adviser capabilities and technology to bridge the gap. By strengthening professional standards and accessibility, the company works to make financial security a reality for underserved communities.
