Over 1,000 Kenyans Rally in Support of Older Persons at Second Run 4 Seniors as more than 1,000 people gathered at Karura Forest to take part in the second edition of the charity event. The run showed that more Kenyans are coming together to support older people and help them live with dignity.
The event brought together individuals, families, companies, and community groups who all shared one goal—to improve the lives of senior citizens across Kenya. The annual charity run raises money and creates awareness for programmes that provide food, healthcare, and social support to vulnerable older people, especially in Isiolo and Kakamega counties.
Mama Ibado Charity President Ahmed Jibril said the large number of participants showed that more Kenyans understand that caring for older persons is everyone’s responsibility. He said every participant was helping restore hope and dignity to older people who have contributed greatly to society.
Run 4 Seniors Chairman Moses Mwangi thanked everyone who took part in the event, as well as the sponsors and partners who made it possible. He said the charity run has become one of Kenya’s fastest-growing fundraising events and continues to attract more support every year.
Mwangi also reminded Kenyans that older people helped build the country and deserve to be cared for, respected, and supported in their later years.
This year’s event included 5km, 10km, and 15km races, attracting people of all ages. Families, fitness enthusiasts, corporate teams, and community groups all participated to promote healthy ageing and social inclusion.
Sponsors also renewed their commitment to supporting older persons. Sidian Bank CEO John Okulo said the bank supports the event because it helps raise awareness about important issues affecting older people, including healthcare, nutrition, mental well-being, and sustainable livelihoods.
KCB Foundation Director Mendi Njonjo said the foundation will continue working with Mama Ibado Charity to ensure more older Kenyans receive the care and support they need as the programme expands.
Fly748.com Head of Scheduled Services George Oduor said businesses have a responsibility to make a positive difference in society. He praised the growing number of participants and said the airline was proud to support a cause that improves the lives of older people.
Run 4 Seniors is organised by Mama Ibado Charity, which provides food, healthcare, and social welfare services to vulnerable older persons. The organisation currently supports about 1,000 beneficiaries in Isiolo and Kakamega counties and hopes to reach even more people in the future.
