NCBA Insurance eyes marine insurance growth as Kenya’s trade sector expands as the company strengthens its partnerships with insurance brokers, agents, and bancassurance partners to help more businesses protect their goods and operations.
Speaking during a meeting with insurance intermediaries, NCBA Insurance CEO and Managing Director Stella Njung’e said the company values the important role that brokers, agents, and bancassurance partners play in helping customers choose the right insurance products. She said these partners also help increase insurance coverage across Kenya and support the company’s growth.
“At NCBA Insurance, we believe in our people, our partners, and especially our intermediaries. Every day, you represent our business by building trust with customers and helping them make the right decisions to protect what matters most. We appreciate your dedication and contribution,” said Stella Njung’e.
She explained that Kenya’s Coast region is becoming one of the country’s fastest-growing markets because of increased tourism, trade, transport, infrastructure projects, and activities in the blue economy. As these sectors continue to grow, the need for insurance products also increases, creating more business opportunities for insurance intermediaries.
According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), Kenya imports goods worth more than KES 2.5 trillion every year. This has increased the demand for marine insurance, which protects cargo and goods while they are being transported. The Coast region remains the country’s main gateway for international trade, and recent digital reforms in marine cargo insurance are making it easier to comply with regulations while creating new opportunities for insurance providers and intermediaries.
The broker engagement was held under the theme “Stronger Together: Building Tomorrow’s Partnerships.” During the event, Stella highlighted marine insurance as one of the company’s key growth areas. She said NCBA Insurance offers comprehensive cover for cargo, goods in transit, ships, and other risks across the maritime supply chain.
She added that as Kenya strengthens regulations in the shipping and logistics sector, more businesses are recognizing the importance of protecting their cargo and operations with marine insurance. NCBA Insurance is ready to support importers, exporters, logistics companies, and businesses in the blue economy with insurance solutions tailored to their needs.
The engagement is part of NCBA Insurance’s ongoing efforts to build stronger relationships with its intermediary partners through regular training, knowledge sharing, and investment in innovative insurance products. The company also aims to equip its partners with the skills and support they need to grow their businesses while providing better service to customers.
As NCBA Insurance continues to expand, it remains committed to working closely with its intermediaries to increase insurance uptake, support Kenya’s growing trade and maritime industries, and help build a stronger and more resilient insurance sector.
