Java House Opens 114th Branch in Nairobi's Buruburu Neighbourhood

Java House has opened its newest branch in Buruburu, one of Nairobi's oldest residential neighbourhoods, bringing the familiar coffee and dining experience closer to families and commuters across Eastlands. The one hundred fourteenth outlet marks another step in the brand's steady growth across the region since its founding in nineteen ninety nine.

The Rabai Road Java House branch sits at the TotalEnergies station where Jogoo Road meets Rabai Road, placing it along a major transport artery that connects eastern Nairobi to Kangundo Road and Outer Ring Road. This position makes the restaurant a convenient stop for people living or working in Buruburu, Donholm, Komarock and the surrounding areas.

Java House now serves a neighbourhood where Buruburu has grown into a neighbourhood with a mix of businesses, retail destinations and services that complement its longstanding role as a residential centre. The changing character of the area has created demand for dining and coffee destinations that offer residents and those passing through greater convenience without having to travel into Nairobi's traditional commercial districts.

During the official launch, Chief Executive Officer Priscilla Gathungu of Java House noted that Buruburu residents increasingly expect the same quality and convenience they would find in the city centre, only closer to home. She added that the branch is well positioned along a major commuter corridor and will serve not only the local community but also people travelling between Eastlands neighbourhoods and other parts of Nairobi. This location provides a convenient meeting point for families, commuters and travellers moving through the area.

The new branch continues Java House's longstanding practice of commissioning artwork that depicts scenes from each location, a tradition that roots every outlet in the character of the neighbourhood it serves. Artwork in the Buruburu branch captures the area's growth and landmarks, including murals that depict the Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts, the famed Buruburu matatus, the Makadara Railway Station, and historic Mutindwa Market.

Chief Executive Officer Priscilla Gathungu expressed gladness at being part of the community's long history that has contributed to Kenya's art and cultural scenes through established institutions such as the Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts and the well known number fifty eight matatus. The Rabai Road branch represents Java House's one hundred fourteenth outlet in East Africa, marking the brand's ongoing expansion across the region.
